Nadler and Mamdani are campaigning against Trump, claiming that he is not a friend to their city and Andrew Cuomo is not a good friend.

Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) campaigned with New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, slamming both President Trump and former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. Nadler criticized Cuomo’s call to Trump for advice after the Democratic primary, stating that they are similar politicians who use their power to serve themselves and wealthy donors. Mamdani criticized Trump’s reported moves regarding the New York City mayoral race, stating that Cuomo is directly coordinating with Trump, even as Trump sends masked agents to rip neighbors off the streets and guts social services. The New York Times reported that eight sources said the president talked in private about stepping into the race to stop Mamdani from winning the November election. Trump and Cuomo discussed the race in a phone call within the last few weeks. Cuomo spokesperson Rich Azzopardi noted comments from Trump about talking to Cuomo, but Trump denied having spoken to him about the mayor’s race. Azzopardi praised Cuomo for passing the most comprehensive gun violence protection laws in the nation, highlighting the importance of choosing the right mayor for New York City.
