President Trump recently spent time on the golf course, dispelling rumors that health issues were keeping him out of the public eye. His empty schedule led to social media posts raising questions about his health after a photograph of bruising on his hand during a White House Cabinet meeting went viral. Vice President Vance brought Trump’s health back into the spotlight in an interview with USA Today, stating that he was prepared to step in should something happen to the president. He noted that the commander in chief is “incredibly good health” and that he feels very confident the president of the United States is in good shape and will serve out the remainder of his term and do great things for the American people.

Trump, 79, became the oldest president to be sworn in when he returned to the Oval Office in January. Last month, speculation around his health was reignited after White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt announced that he had undergone testing for swelling in his legs and bruises on his hands. He was diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a common condition for people over 70 where their veins struggle to pump blood back up to the heart.

Vance and other Trump allies have brushed off potential health issues, pointing to the president’s stamina and energy. The concerns also come as Trump has seen a dip in his approval rating in recent polling. The president also sat for an in-person interview with The Daily Caller earlier this week.
