UK’s Lammy was honored at the UN for posing a threat to Palestine’s recognition.

British Foreign Secretary David Lammy has announced that the UK will recognize Palestinian statehood in September if Israel does not agree to a ceasefire and long-term peace process. The decision is intended to pressure Jerusalem to end fighting in Gaza and to improve the situation on the ground. Lammy stated that while the US and UK have a special relationship, no country has veto on solemn decisions made in the United Kingdom. He emphasized that the rejection of a two-state solution by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government is morally and strategically wrong, harming the Israeli people by closing off the only path to peace.
