The Cambodia-Thailand border has been a scene of intense conflict, with thousands of displaced people in both countries resettling. The conflict has resulted in the deaths of at least 41 people and displaced over 260,000 others. Soth Sim, a 63-year-old resident of Phrong village near the Cambodia-Thailand border, returned to his home after a weeklong ceasefire between the two Southeast Asian nations seemed to be taking hold. His house was devastated by fire, and his nearby gas station had been extensively damaged. Soth Sim’s family fled to a displacement camp in Battkhao, 60 kilometers away, when the firing began a week ago. The personal cost of the clash is being discovered as thousands of displaced people return home.
