Nvidia, a Chinese tech giant, has been criticized by China’s state-run media People’s Daily for allegedly failing to produce convincing security proofs to address concerns about security risks in its H20 artificial intelligence chip. The commentary, titled “Nvidia, how can I trust you?”, emphasized that foreign companies must comply with Chinese laws and prioritize security. Nvidia, however, denied any backdoors in its chips that could allow anyone to access or control them remotely. This comes after Beijing raised concerns over potential security risks in Nvidia’s H20 chip, casting uncertainty over the company’s sales prospects in China. The Cyberspace Administration of China, the country’s internet regulator, has summoned Nvidia to a meeting to discuss potential backdoor security risks, as it fears that Chinese user data and privacy rights could be affected.
