Residents are advised to remain on ‘high alert’ as the search for a suspect in a Montana bar shooting continues.

A man, identified as 45-year-old Michael Paul Brown, is on the run after opening fire at The Owl Bar in Anaconda, Montana, killing four people in a senseless act of violence. The shooting occurred at about 10:30 a.m. local time and occurred at the city’s The Owl Bar. Brown was last seen driving earlier Friday but was not in it. Police are now focusing their search along Stumptown Road, a highway west of Anaconda. Residents of the area have been notified and encouraged to stay inside their homes and on high alert. Authorities have not yet said what led up to the shooting or a possible motive. Police have identified the four people killed but are not yet releasing their names until they have had a chance to talk to family members. The shooting sparked a large law enforcement presence, including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte has called for prayers for the victims.
