The proposed Texas map would reshape that state’s political terrain by creating as many as five additional Republican-friendly congressional districts. Texas Republicans have defended the remap effort, saying the 2024 election showed that Latinos have swung to the right. Texas Democratic Party Chair Kendall Scudder met with Pritzker last month to discuss strategy to fight the redistricting effort.
