The EPA is attempting to recover $7 billion from the ‘Solar for All’ initiative.

The EPA, under the Biden-era program, has announced that it will end the Solar for All program, which was distributed to 60 entities including states, nonprofits, tribes, and local governments. The $7 billion passed as part of the Democrats’ 2022 Inflation Reduction Act was intended to fund subgrantees to help install solar energy. EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin stated that very little money has been spent on the program, and recipients are still in the early planning phase. This is not the first time the EPA has sought to claw back Biden-era funds, as it previously sought to claw back $20 billion in “Green Bank” funding. However, Republicans passed a bill repealing “unobligated balances” from the $7 billion fund.
