Trump argues that the name of his megabill is not sufficient to explain its purpose. SacDepSpa 824

President Trump has criticized the name of his “big, beautiful” megabill, signed in July, for not accurately describing its purpose. The bill, which will add nearly $3.4 trillion to the U.S.’s deficits over the next decade, is a massive tax cut for the middle class, jobs, and no tax on tips or Social Security. Former Trump strategist Steve Bannon criticized House Republicans for not effectively promoting Trump’s megabill during the summer recess. Bannon criticized the lack of GOP town halls, stating that Republicans went home for the August recess but were not having events to promote Trump’s most important legislative package. Bannon urged House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune to press GOP lawmakers to laud the bill in public forums, urging them to cancel overseas junkets and force them to have town halls, meet and greets, and editorial board meetings. Bannon argued that the 2026 midterms have started, and Republicans are letting down the president.
