A DC’sandwich guy’ has been charged with misdemeanor assault after the grand jury rejected a felony.

Sean Dunn, a Department of Justice employee in Washington, D.C., has been charged with misdemeanor assault after allegedly throwing a sandwich at a federal law enforcement official during President Trump’s city takeover. Dunn was charged with one count of assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers or employees. Federal prosecutors failed to secure a felony indictment against Dunn, who was also charged with a felony earlier this month for throwing a sandwich at a Customs and Border Protection agent. The incident was captured on video and posted to social media, leading to artwork featuring a person appearing to toss a sandwich. Trump’s crackdown in Washington, D.C. followed a similar deployment of the National Guard in Los Angeles, sparking backlash from city residents and Democrats.
