The CDC’s Overdose Data to Action (OD2A) program in North Carolina has been fully funded, according to Raynard Washington, health director of Mecklenburg County. The program had previously only been guaranteed half its $280 million apportionment. Grantees have not yet been informed of the full funding. Public health advocacy group Sharon Gilmartin criticized the administration’s lack of transparency in the funding process, stating that every delay and spending freeze translate to lost time and lives. The OD2A cooperative agreement provides funding to 90 health departments. NPR reported that the administration had delayed and might cancel about $140 million of the program’s grants last month.
